In Jordan, so–called honor killings make up about one–third of the murders of women. Girls and women are killed by their fathers and brothers to "cleanse" the honor of their family. These crimes are rarely reported or even spoken about. Where does this gruesome tradition stem from? What acts are considered punishable by murder? How does it affect the Jordanian immigrant population of the United States and elsewhere? Can anything be done to change this tradition?Related Event
