Light Rail Construction on Capitol Hill, and Beyond

Steve Scher
11/19/2008 at 9:00 a.m.

There's a lot more light rail in our future. The passage of Proposition 1 ensured that. But before we can have light rail, track must be laid and stations must be built. Whole blocks of Capitol Hill are shuttered and waiting. What's the construction plan for Capitol Hill? How will it affect residents and visitors? Is there a mitigation plan for businesses? Communities in Rainier Valley and Beacon Hill have already dealt with similar construction. How did it go? This morning on Weekday, we take a look at the Sound Transit construction process on Capitol Hill, with an eye toward what we all will be facing in the future.
