Jack Straw Writers Program: Frances McCue and Marty Campbell

Frances McCue reads an excerpt from her forthcoming memoir, "Chasing Richard Hugo," whose eccentric hero has become her literary obsession. California-based writer Marty Campbell reads from "Riting Righting," a collection of whimsical prose poems that assert that any communication that intends beauty—even unconsciously—is art.

Frances McCue is a poet, essayist, teacher and a self described "arts instigator." She recently left her position as the artistic director of Richard Hugo House, a literary center she founded with her friends in 1997. Her first book of poems, "The Stenographer’s Breakfast," was published by Beacon Press. Marty Campbell describes himself as "an uncontrollable writer all of his 41 adult years." His work appears in the Caribbean anthology Yellow Cedars Blooming and in the journals Hampden-Sydney Poetry Review, RHINO, and others. He lives near Mt. Madonna, California.
