Federal Way grapples with recent uptick in gun deaths

The mayor of Federal Way announced a special City Council meeting tonight Thursday. The city has seen a recent uptick in gun violence.

It's had three deaths from shootings this week.

Federal Way police officials are calling the gun deaths unusual and alarming because the city normally only gets that many in a year. Police are asking its residents to take precautions.

The most recent shooting death was Tuesday night. Police found a 30-year-old man out jogging with his dog shot to death.

Early that same day a 27-year-old man was found shot dead in his car. And early Monday morning a 26-year-old man was found dead at an apartment complex.

Police officials are asking people to avoid going out on foot late at night. And if you need to do so, travel with a group.

Authorities say they're looking into possible motives. But so far there's been no confirmed connections between the victims.

The City Council meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m.
