The da Vinci lesson: What really matters is being creative

Dec 27, 2017

Looking back at a year that was tumultuous in so many ways, this talk by author Walter Isaacson stands out as something that has almost nothing to do with our modern day trials and tribulations.

His latest book is a biography of Leonardo da Vinci. Isaacson’s appreciation for and curiosity about his subject is evident here. He takes us along as he discovers (reveals, really) the life of one of the most creative geniuses ever to walk the earth.

As he refers to slides in his presentation, you may miss not being in the audience, or find yourself gracefully drawn into imagining the scenes he describes.

Isaacson is an author, journalist and the president of the Aspen Institute, a nonpartisan forum for values-based leadership and the exchange of ideas. His biographies include Steve Jobs, Benjamin Franklin and Albert Einstein.

The Elliott Bay Book Company presented this talk by Walter Isaacson at The Broadway Performance Hall on October 30. Sonya Harris recorded his presentation.
