Please note, we are not responsible for any content hosted by other stations including NPR. We are not able to provide support for aggregators such as Bloglines or Google Reader, but you may find switching to a different aggregator may offer you the options you are looking for.

What is RSS?

RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a Web file format that allows the user to subscribe to content online and have it collected all in one place, called an aggregator. What will I get when I subscribe to a KUOW RSS feed?

You will get a listing of KUOW-produced stories (headline, abstract, and link to the story on KUOW.org). The newest story will be on top. View an example.

What's the difference between this and a podcast?

The podcast is updated when the show is over and offers a downloadable MP3. The RSS will promote shows in advance of the broadcast so you know what will be on today, tomorrow, or sometimes, next week. It will not offer audio.

When will I get the show promotions?

You will get them when you check your RSS aggregator. While we do not endorse one aggregator over the other, here is a resource for researching and choosing an aggregator. Some email services integrate RSS into their platform, such as Outlook 2007 and Gmail.

Is there an alternative service if I prefer to get this information in my email box?

On our RSS page is a link with the option to have feed updates emailed to you. The email subscription is managed by FeedBurner, a third-party service. If you do not start receiving the updates after subscribing, check your trash and junk boxes to make sure they are not being filtered as spam.

Where Do I Find KUOW Podcasts?

Right here! Just click the link next to for each show you're interested in. Depending on your browser, the RSS feed will look like a bunch of code. Just copy and paste the URL (Web address) of this page into your RSS aggregator.
