Richard Hugo House – Literary Series: 'Laws of Attraction'
KUOW and Richard Hugo House present "Laws of Attraction," the final event in the 2009–2010 Hugo Literary Series, featuring new writing from essayist Phillip Lopate, poet Emily Warn and actress Marya Sea Kaminski, with new songs by Seattle rockers Happy Hour Hero. Town Hall — Accordi–O–Rama III: A Squeezebox Spectacular
KUOW, Town Hall's Global Rhythms Series and Northwest Folklife present "Accordi–O–Rama III," Saturday, March 20 from 2:00–4:00 p.m. in the Great Hall. The concert features musicians from five cultural traditions: Jo Miller & Her Burly Roughnecks with squeezebox virtuoso Nova Devonie playing western swing and rockabilly tunes; accordionist Elias Lammam joined by his brothers Georges and Antoine to perform music of the Arab World; Croatian music with John Morovich and the Sinovi Orchestra and guest dancers; Jovino Santos Neto and Ben Gown with Brazilian rhythms; and Cambodian accordion music from Daran Kravanh and his ensemble. American Jewish Committee — 15th Annual Seattle Jewish Film Festival
KUOW and American Jewish Committee present the 15th Annual SJFF Seattle Jewish Film Festival, a week of independent, international Jewish–themed and Israeli films, special events, educational programming and guest artists, and SJFF's 1st REEL Difference Award. The festival runs March 11 – 21 at SIFF Cinema at McCaw Hall and Cinerama Theatre. Chef Tom Douglas hosts SJFF's Pre–Opening Night Cocktail Party at the Palace Ballroom, with music and a short film series. Sunday Brunch & Family Film hosted by Matzoh Momma Catering. Burien Little Theatre — 'A Midsummer Night's Dream'
KUOW and Burien Little Theatre present Arne Zaslove's rock 'n roll version of Shakespeare's romantic comedy "A Midsummer Night's Dream." Set at Athens High on Graduation night 1957, the characters, in poodle skirts and leather jackets, sing and dance the night away in a bebopping comedy of mistaken identities, featuring classic 50s rock 'n roll tunes. Medieval Women's Choir – 'Greatest Hits of the Medieval Women's Choir'
KUOW and Medieval Women's Choir present "Greatest Hits of the Medieval Women's Choir," on Sunday March 21 at Town Hall in Seattle. To celebrate its 20th anniversary, the choir has chosen its favorite pieces from the past 19 seasons, including pieces by composer Hildegard of Bingen. Seattle Public Library — The Price of a Life: Modern–Day Slavery and Human Trafficking
Join KUOW and Seattle Public Library for "Stopping Traffic," the third event of the discussion and film series about modern–day human trafficking and slavery. Guest speakers Sara Lerner, KUOW announcer/reporter; Detective Harvey Sloan, co–chair of the Washington Advisory Committee of Trafficking (WashACT); Ye–ting Woo, co–chair of WashACT; and Kathleen Morris, program manager for the Washington Anti–Trafficking Response Network (WARN); will discuss how local aide organizations are addressing the illegal trade of human beings. KUOW and Taproot Theatre present "Brooklyn Boy" by Donald Marguiles (Dinner with Friends, Sight Unseen) running March 19 – April 17. Writer Eric Weiss has finally made it big with a best–seller and a shot at a Hollywood film when he's called back to the Brooklyn neighborhood he happily left behind. An Evening With NPR On Location – Live In Seattle
Join KUOW and NPR for "NPR On Location" — an evening of music and conversation with NPR's "All Things Considered" Host Michele Norris and singer, songwriter Rosanne Cash. Cash, the eldest daughter of the late Johnny Cash, will share her personal stories, and those of her family, and perform songs from the soundtrack that runs through them all.
