Media sponsorship applications are available now for 2012–2013!
KUOW is proud to support nonprofit events happening in our broadcast region. We sponsor a variety of arts, culture and civic events that reflect the mission of KUOW's programming and provide enjoyment and service to our audience. Applications are available now for events happening within the upcoming sponsorship cycle: July 1, 2012 through June 30, 2013.
This year, there are two application forms: Event Series Sponsorship and Single Event Sponsorship.
- Organizations may apply for both an Event Series Sponsorship and a Single Event Sponsorship within the same year, but must apply for each type of sponsorship separately.
- Organizations may apply for up to 3 single events within the same year. Please use one application form when applying for multiple single events.
Applicants must fill out the application at one time. Applicants cannot save an incomplete application and come back to it later. Please review the application guidelines and questions before starting the online application process.
Application deadline: MAY 31, 2012.

Festal: A Glimpse of China — Chinese Culture and Arts Festival: A Next 50 Celebration

Seattle Center presents A Glimpse of China &mdas; Chinese Culture and Arts Festival in 2012, also celebrating the 50th anniversary of the 1962 Seattle World's Fair. Explore and experience the cultural roots and contemporary influences of China through live performances, visual arts, hands–on activities, foods, games and a marketplace. Learn Chinese folk dances, create delicate artworks and share in cultural traditions covering 5,000 years of Chinese history.

National Geographic Live! — Bryan Smith: "The Lens Of Adventure"
May 20–22 | Sunday: 2:30 p.m., Monday & Tuesday: 7:30 p.m.
Location: Benaroya Hall (Illsley Ball Nordstrom Recital Hall)
Benaroya Hall presents National Geographic Live! featuring National Geographic Channel filmmaker Bryan Smith. Smith shares gripping, behind–the–scenes moments from his assignments to document extreme feats and high adventure in the world's most challenging environments. An experienced kayaker who had paddled steep rivers in India, Peru and Russia, Smith was inspired to take up video photography while protesting a hydroelectric dam project that threatened British Columbian rivers. He has specialized in creating innovative technical solutions to capture images of dangerous situations.

Seattle Arts & Lectures — Colum McCann

Seattle Arts & Lectures presents Literary/Arts Series featuring Colum McCann, Irish–born author of two short story collections and five novels. His work covers international territory: the troubles in Northern Ireland ("Everything In This Country Must"), the Roma culture in Europe ("Zoli"), the ambitions of an artist in Soviet Russia ("Dancer") and the working people of 1970's New York ("Let The Great World Spin"). His fiction has been published in over 30 languages across four continents.

Bainbridge Performing Arts presents "The Full Monty," a heartfelt tale of community. Seeing how much their wives enjoy their "girl's night out," unemployed steelworkers in Buffalo, New York, come up with a bold way to make some quick cash. In the process they find renewed self–esteem, the importance of friendship and the ability to have fun.

Festal Northwest Folklife Festival: A Next 50 Celebration

Seattle Center presents Northwest Folklife Festival in 2012, also celebrating the 50th anniversary of the 1962 Seattle World's Fair. Explore and experience the cultural roots and contemporary influences of ethnic communities in our region through live performances, visual arts and hands–on activities. Northwest Folklife Festival features over 7,000 performers, participatory dances, workshops, crafts, food and more. In 2012, the theme is sharing our stories.

Museum of History & Industry (MOHAI) — 'Now & Then'
Now–June 3, 2012
Location: MOHAI's McCurdy Gallery (2700 24th Ave. E., Seattle, WA 98112)
The Museum of History & Industry presents "Now & Then," an exhibit exploring the history of Seattle through repeat photography by Paul Dorpat with collaboration from Jean Sherrard and Berangere Lomont. Come see how landscapes and cityscapes have changed over the years in this robust collection of hundreds of photographs. Beginning with early photos of Paris, the birthplace of photography, Dorpat returns to locales photographed long ago to chronicle transformations in Washington state, Seattle, and Dorpat's own daily walks through the Wallingford neighborhood.

CityClub — A Conversation with General Colin Powell

CityClub presents four–star general and former Secretary of State Colin Powell. Powell will discuss his new book, "It Worked For Me," and share personal stories that introduce and expand upon his principles for effective leadership: conviction, hard work, and, above all, respect for others.

Wing Luke Museum of the Asian Pacific American Experience — From Fields To Family: Asian Pacific Americans And Food
October 14, 2011 – July 15, 2012
Location: The Wing Luke Museum (719 South King St, Seattle, WA 98104)
This exhibit will investigate cultural traditions and cooking techniques that have adapted and changed with the passing of time and generations, uncover the ways politics influences how food is produced and by whom, and honor those who have sacrificed to bring food to our tables. Visitors can experience the sights, sounds, tastes and smells of food in the homes and life of diverse Asian Pacific Americans.

"The Next Fifty" And "Remembering Century 21" — Community History Project & Celebration
April 21 – October 21
Location: Seattle Center
Seattle Center presents "The Next Fifty:" celebrating the 50th anniversary of the 1962 World's Fair and "Remembering Century 21:" exhibits exploring the fair's impact today. Eight focus areas will be explored throughout the six months including arts, culture, civic action and the history of this golden anniversary. The hope is to create synergies that inspire a shared regional vision as we honor the past, celebrate the present and imagine a future filled with possibilities.
