Event Description

Susan Gulkis Assadi & Byron Schenkman

Robert Schumann was perhaps the greatest musical poet of all time. We begin with his Kinderszenen for piano, a series of reminiscences of childhood including the famous Träumerei ("Dreams") and Der Dichter Spricht ("The poet speaks"), and conclude with his masterpiece Dichterliebe ("Poet's Love") with tenor Ross Hauck. According to the San Francisco Classical Voice and Opera News, he brings “an elevated and extra ordinary range of subtle inflections.” Also featured will be Seattle Symphony principal violist Susan Gulkis Assadi in the wonderful Märchenbilder ("Fairy tale pictures") for viola and piano.
