About Arvid Hokanson:
Arvid Hokanson serves as assistant program director of KUOW and KXOT. He works with Program Director Jeff Hansen to fine tune the sound of the station, manage KXOT, find new programs and interact with listeners. Arvid also serves on the editorial board of the Public Radio Exchange. As a member of the board, he reviews stories and documentaries from independent producers.
Previously, Arvid produced KUOW's call–in program, "Weekday," from 2000 to 2005. He came to the station in 1999 as an intern. During that time, Arvid worked on the KUOW Website and as a member of the reporting staff. He served on the team that covered the 1999 WTO Ministerial Conference. KUOW's coverage received a National Headliner Award.
Arvid started in radio at Mercer Island High School and continued his love for radio at Western Washington University's KUGS in Bellingham. Arvid served as production director, program director and morning show host at KUGS. He also spent a summer at Pacifica Radio in Washington, D.C.
Arvid grew up on Mercer Island and received a journalism degree from Western Washington University. Outside of KUOW, He enjoys running and traveling with his wife Julia and their corgis Murray and Gladys.
